"ABSTRACTING ARCHITECTURE. PART I OF II: ENGAGING WITH THE HAND"

All fifteen pieces of this series were created using only my right hand. The body of work becomes the physical residue of my immediate and instinctual relationship with the chosen medium. Working directly with the acrylic paint, absent of any other external tools, renders each individual piece a unique reflection of intrinsic response and pure emotion - unprocessed and unfiltered. Creating these pieces was very intuitive, raw, organic, therapeutic and inherently visceral.

This body of work is Part I of a two-part project. Part I will supply the content with which Part II will engage, and extrapolate from. They will work in tandem to question the use (and frequent underuse) of the hands in contemporary design. Part I introduces the concept of constructing with the hand, while Part II - a book of reference, will go further to explore how we subsequently deconstruct and reconstruct with the mind (and hand) through drafting.
